White beans have 175 mg per 100 gram serving while navy beans provide 127 mg. Winged beans have one of the highest concentration of calcium with over 400 mg per 100 gram serving. Tofu, a popular byproduct of soybean, is another good source of calcium. These calcium-rich beans are also high in magnesium, which works hand in hand with calcium in strengthening the bones.

Nuts are not only great snacks but also great sources of different vitamins and minerals, including calcium. Almonds are perhaps one of the more nutrient-rich foods around. Aside from having very high 750 mg calcium content for every serving, these nuts also provide fiber, protein and a host of other vitamins and minerals. This is the reason why dried fruits and nuts combos like trail mix are popular among health buffs.

Etanercept (Enbrel) – TNF-alpha blocker

Adalimumab (Humira) – an antibody that blocks TNF-alpha

Infliximab (Remicade) – TNF-alpha blocker

Ustekinumab (Stelara) – human protein against interleukins

Psoriasis responds well to biologic agents: Each of the drugs reduced the activity of psoriasis by 75% in a lot of people, based on clinical trials. Though, these new psoriasis treatments have disadvantages. A person is most likely to spend hundreds, even thousands of dollars monthly when using biologic agents for treating psoriasis. Even for people who don’t have osteoarthritis, dairy products are still essential to their diet since dairy products are rich in calcium. Yogurt, cheese, low or fat-free milk are the best dairy products. On average, adults need to take dairy products approximately 3 cups daily.

Lastly, protein is extremely important in a person’s health because having high levels of protein will cause the body to grow and be strong. Foods like poultry, meat, fish, seeds and nuts are rich in protein.

Food and Beverages to Avoid

Of course, osteoarthritis patients also need to think about the food that is bad for them. Here are the food and beverages that shouldn’t be part of the osteoporosis diet:

Trans Fat – This can be found mostly in junk food, fast food, sweets, and baked products. Some examples are chips, crackers, donuts, and pastries. To be safe, check the product’s labels to know if it has trans fat or not.

Saturated Fat – Found mostly in lard, meat, butter, and other food that are high in cholesterol.

Alcoholic Beverages – These drinks also give you empty calories. Drink moderately, and only have one or two drinks per day.

  • Arthrocentesis or joint aspiration involves draining of the joint fluid in order to reduce the pressure in the joints. This leads to relieving of joint swelling and pain reduction. Joint aspiration is also used to diagnose unknown causes of joint problems.
  • Antibiotics can be taken whenever joint infection is present. Antibiotics help in treating the infection and prevent it from worsening. When an infection has already complicated and it cannot be treated by antibiotics, joint surgery is commonly recommended.
